FinTech Taipei 2019: The next steps for developing Taiwan’s FinTech ecosystem

November 07 08:21 2019

FinTech Taipei 2019 will be held November 29-30 at the Taipei World Trade Center. This year’s event will feature a wide variety of firms involved in the FinTech ecosystem, among them traditional financial institutions, tech firms, FinTech start-ups, innovators, researchers and many others. Compared to the 2018 event, this year’s exhibition will be twice as large in terms of exhibition space and will be aligned closely with the Singapore FinTech Festival. Now in its second year, FinTech Taipei continues to serve as a platform for the global FinTech community to connect and collaborate. Not only does the event offer a window into the FinTech industry’s latest innovations and solutions, it also offers outstanding business opportunities.

Highlights of the 2019 edition trade show include the two-day international FinTech conference, FinTech exposition and FinTech innovations and matchmaking opportunities.  The organizers hope that the wide variety of key players in the emerging FinTech ecosystem can deepen their cooperation, including the authorities, research institutions, financial institutions and tech firms.

A key focus of this event is the FinTech Exposition, which will feature 170 exhibiting companies and academic institutions from 13 countries. The exposition features four areas, one for financial institutions, FinTech startups, and service providers respectively, as well as a main FinTech pavilion. The FinTech main pavilion, co-hosted by the FSC and Digital KYS, focuses on FinTech talent training, internet-only banking, the FinTech regulatory sandbox, open banking and retirement planning. It also provides an interactive “future financial life” user experience. One of the most notable aspects of this year’s event is the participation of some major global FinTech firms, including several prominent unicorns, such as Amplyfi, FNZ, Revolut, Automatic Anywhere and Kiva. These companies will share their experience on growing FinTech businesses with the event’s participants.

FinTech 2019 will feature a number of important topics relevant to the financial industry, such as open banking, the FinTech regulatory sandbox, the application of artificial intelligence in the financial industry and internet-only banks. A number of notable speakers will participate in the event, including Alastair Lukies, Founder & CEO of Pollinate International and Chair of the FinTech Alliance, Bill Roberts, Head of Open Banking at the Competition Markets Authority, Hirohiko Nakahara, Deputy Director-General of Japan’s Ministry of Economy and Trade, and Scott Farrell, Co-chair of the Australian Government’s FinTech Advisory Group.

After making their keynote speeches, the speakers will share their perspectives on FinTech issues in panel discussions with local experts. The panel discussions will serve to provide some new ideas to further facilitate the development of Taiwan’s FinTech ecosystem.

FinTech Taipei 2019 will include a dedicated area for FinTech innovations and matchmaking opportunities. This will enable Taiwanese FinTech start-ups to connect and collaborate with international FinTech delegates. Such interactions will not only showcase Taiwan’s FinTech innovations and solutions, but also enable different players in the FinTech ecosystem to tap into each other’s strengths. The 2019 FinTech Taipei trade show welcomes everyone with new ideas for the FinTech age!
