Blue Moon is a work of historical and dramatic fiction penned by author Jenny Knipfer and forms the second novel in the By the Light of the Moon series. In this installment we see the lives of the Gulet twins twist and turn with jealousy and trauma as unwed Vanessa is forced to give her baby son to her sister to raise because Valerie is married. The harsh judgments and conditions of 1885 are tough enough without this bitter seed being planted, and when Valerie herself is faced with a life-altering medical diagnosis, the plot only thickens on the shores of Lake Superior.

Author Jenny Knipfer draws readers in with a confident and easy style of writing that makes you feel like you’re in safe hands. Unfolding the dramatic saga of the Gulet twins and the people around them in Webaashi Bay is done with fluid prose and a powerful, multi-sensational atmosphere, where you can feel the fresh air and see the water sparkling in each beautifully tailored scene. The plot itself is exciting and well-paced to give plenty of shocks and heartaches along the way, and the emotional powerhouse at its center, for me at least, was Valerie and her immense bravery in the face of adversity, with a condition that I know a little about and believe to be very well conveyed for its period in history. Overall, Blue Moon continues a well-written and highly engaging saga of family ties, betrayals, and heartaches. A must-read for historical drama fans everywhere.”
