CEA’s Facial Recognition Service at Daxing Airport makes trips easier

September 25 22:54 2019

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) is making flying easier and more efficient through its facial recognition technology adopted at the Beijing Daxing International Airport, which has seen its first commercial flight take off on Sept. 25, 2019.

Thanks to the new technology, passengers won’t have to show their ID cards or QR codes at the new airport. Through a quick facial scanning, they can finish all the procedures, including buying tickets, checking in, baggage checking, and boarding.

Flight attendants of CEA can also confirm the number of boarding passengers and help them locate their seats by the facial recognition systems at the gates of the aircraft, thus improving the efficiency of the service and offering more convenience to the passengers.

In the VIP lounge of CEA at the Beijing Daxing International Airport, portable facial recognition devices carried by ground service staffs can have a quick identification of passengers and their flight information, ensuring that every passenger is able to board their plane on time.

What’s more, smart displays have been jointly launched by CEA and the Beijing Daxing International Airport in CEA check-in areas and at the exit of CEA VIP lounge, where passengers can find clear information about their flights, boarding gates, weather at their destination, as well as the routes and time required to get to their boarding gates.

Thanks to its application of cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and augmented reality to the civil aviation industry, CEA has just opened a new chapter of the “smart trip”.
