Why Modern Heating Systems Can Tackle Carbon Emissions and High Energy Bills

Environmental concerns rarely seem to be out of the headlines these days, particularly in relation to climate change – and Canada is no different.

According to research by the Prairie Climate Centre, in Canada every year of the last 20 years has seen the20th century’s average temperature exceeded. As the report points out, this means that an entire generation of Canadians have not lived through what was once considered a normal temperature.

As many people already know, the emissions of greenhouse gases play a major role in causing climate change, putting the onus on all of us to bring about greater energy efficiencies – with one way of doing this by keeping our consumption of natural resources to a minimum.

A step in the right direction is maintaining or replacing home heating systems. Ageing, failing systems are not energy efficient and persisting with them puts people at risk of higher utility bills and more environmental pollution. Carbon monoxide leaks are another risk of old, defective heating systems.

Toronto Heating and Cooling are experts in upgrading inefficient heating and cooling systems across a range of product areas, from gas furnaces, air conditioning and central heating to water heaters and general plumbing. The well-known extreme weather during a typical Canadian winter sees many older heating systems working harder for less reward.

“Outdated heating systems really show their inefficiencies during our extreme Canadian winters,” a spokesperson for the company said. “Not only does this cause obvious discomfort for people and their families in their homes, as they struggle against the cold, but it has an environmental impact too.

“As these systems work harder and harder to generate heat, so do their emissions grow. At Toronto Heating and Cooling, we recommend and install only the most modern and up-to-date heating technology – and it is all uniquely designed to suit the living space, meaning you only generate the amount of heat you actually require.”

The cost of heating is of particular concern to Canadians, who like the rest of the world have seen much volatility in pricing over the past decade. A 2016 report by the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario found that while Ontarians spend much less on home energy per household than Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, they still spend more than residents in Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia.

Toronto Heating and Cooling have acknowledged these high costs by also offering a maintenance service for existing heating systems. “It’s all about providing a solution that meets the needs of each individual customer,” added the spokesperson.

“As well as installing highly efficient systems that employ the latest methods for economical heating, we can help customers get the best out of what they already have. We strongly advise anyone to not wait until the winter before addressing the needs of a heating system – be prepared before the cold sets in.”
