GOOGLE’S SEARCH AND ADS TOOLS ASSISTED IN 30% GROWTH IN 2018

San Juan, Puerto Rico – Today, Caribbean Soaps announced that it was highlighted in Google’s tenth annual Economic Impact Report – a report that showcases how businesses, publishers and nonprofits across the United States are using Google search and advertising tools to connect with the people and communities they serve. This year, small businesses in Puerto Rico generated 628 million dollars in economic activity.  By using Google products, businesses strengthened their online presence and were able to grow, bringing more money and jobs into the local economy.

“For small businesses in the United States, the web is the most powerful tool to attract new customers and support existing ones,” said Mary Ellen Coe, President of Google Customer Solutions. “We are proud that our search and advertising tools helped Caribbean Soaps grow and contribute to the economy in Puerto Rico.”

In addition to being named as the “Puerto Rico Featured Business,” members of Caribbean Soaps’ team have been invited to participate in the “Grow with Google Business Meetup,” which consists of several days of networking and learning at Google’s headquarters in San Francisco.

“In this economy, you have to have different income streams, so the internet is very important for us.” – Alexis Sotomayor, Founder

For over 17 years, Alexis has constantly strived to improve his digital presence through a number of Google tools. Alexis runs Google Ads campaigns to get the word out about Caribbean Soaps in both Puerto Rico and the States and regularly uses Google Analytics to monitor site traffic and clicks. “Right now, it’s small — about 2,000 visitors per month — but it’s a lot more than we used to have,” he said. According to Alexis, about 60% of online sales come from Puerto Rico and 40% from the rest of the U.S. Alexis also relies on G Suite tools like Docs and Hangouts, which he uses to communicate with his web developer in India.

After improving their online presence, Caribbean Soaps saw significant results:

  • 30% increase in online sales.
  • Led to new wholesale accounts like Royal Caribbean’s gift shops on 2 two cruise ships.

Caribbean Soaps products can currently be found in their store in San Juan, numerous local supermarket chains, health food stores and souvenir shops on the island, and, of course, on the company’s website, which offers more than 100 products including 25 different varieties of handmade soaps, coconut shell candles, massage oils and body creams.

To support more small businesses, Google launched its Grow with Google initiative to help create economic opportunity for Americans. Drawing on Google’s history of building products, platforms, and services that help people and businesses grow, the initiative aims to give Americans access to the best of Google’s training and tools to grow their skills, careers, and businesses.
