Newlyweds Creates Ecofriendly School Fundraising Program that Breaks the Mold

April 17, 2019 – Florida – For countless decades, schools have raised money the same way. Kids go door-to-door selling candy, popcorn, baked goods, candles or wrapping paper. Parents and their coworkers are guilted into buying overpriced products simply to help their kids, full well knowing that when they receive their products months later, they’ll be underwhelmed. A Fort Myers couple have decided it was time for something better. Danielle Fous, a teacher at Crestwell School, and her husband Christopher, Cofounder of eco-friendly oral care brand WooBamboo, have designed a program called Ecolife Fundraising. Embracing the power of social media, each student gets a unique web address that their parents can share on Facebook or instagram, leading friends and family to an online store full of Earth-friendly products.

From bamboo toothbrushes to non-toxic fairy makeup, reusable grocery bags, natural deodorant, organic stevia, and local honey to name a few. Each product has been hand-picked due to its inherently sustainable nature and eco-friendliness. Each child’s sales are tracked in real time, and 35% of every dollar goes right to the school (the same percentage as traditional fundraisers). While parents are helping their children sell online, teachers can download lesson plans and information sheets to teach children why these products exist, and what makes them better for the environment. Children learn about the environment, responsible consumerism, and the importance of switching to more natural products. No more order forms. No more dangerous door-to-door. No more mercy buys. Just awesome products purchased online, and delivered quickly. Super easy for teachers and parents, and safe for kids.

“As both a mother and a teacher, I created Ecolife Fundraising as a way to help schools and charities raise money, while at the same time teaching children how to lead a more eco-awesome life,” says Danielle Fous, cofounder. “We believe that it’s our duty, as responsible citizens of this beautiful planet, to instill in our children a respect for the environment. We’re helping schools do that, while allowing them to also raise the funds they desperately need. It’s a win/win. Happy Schools, healthy planet.”
