Murphy shared, “There are tremendous advancements on the shop floor today. 3D printing, additive manufacturing, IoT, sensors, and all of that is focused on the four walls of the digital factory. But you really can’t take full advantage of this digital evolution if you are only focusing on the shop floor. You’ve got to shift your focus on the front end of your sales process. You cannot sell in analog in a digital environment.”
Cooper added, “Manufacturers have to modernize their sales process. Sales reps have digital solutions and products showcasing innovative products, but the experience from a customer sales rep perspective has not changed. Implementing CRM is the first step, but sales teams have no way to track what’s going on with quotes once they go out the door. That is not acceptable in our modern age. Customers are demanding the full digital experience from the very starting point of that customer gaining interest in that product.”
