GT Robots Mi-Astro operating in Singapore Police Force

“Encountering difficulties in finding a policeman”, it is concluded that most of the children around the world have come across to this sentence. Now, Singapore Police Force officers have introduced a new special colleague who understands the children’s psychology and undertakes the responsibility in the education for child safety. He is also the spokesperson for the police station interacting with the audience and children. He is very small in size, standing at only 24 centimeters tall, with the given name of Mi-Astro. Mi-Astro is customized and built by Singapore’s GT Robot and Singapore Police Force with the objective of creating a mini AI smart policeman.

 

On 10 April 2019, the Singapore Police Force(SPF) conducted and held its annual Work Plan Seminar of Singapore Police Force, announced to the public and world that in the year of 2019, a new high-tech law enforcement measures were announced to improve the efficiency of police operations and become a “smart power.” Mr. K. Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law of Singapore, attended the meeting and witnessed the three high-tech products under the theme of “Unmanned Police Post ” to help the Singapore police force to enhance their policing capabilities. Among them, the emergence of the mini AI smart police has brought the police closer to the mass public.

The mini-intelligent police officer, launched by the Singapore Police Force, called Mi-Astro, comprises of customized information on police information and advice on children safety which is designed and developed by Singapore’s GT Robot. The Singapore Police Force management has announced plans  that the Mi-Astro will be primarily used to strengthen contact and interaction with preschool children and students. It can be function and serve as a useful icebreaker between police officers and children. It is reported that Mi-Astro robots was tested and operated  in three PCF pre-schools in Singapore. At the same time, the Singapore Police Force have announced that in the near future, the Mi-Astro will be equipped with new functional modules to open up communication functions with the elderly. In addition, Mi-Astro will also function and become a translation assistant (13 languages) for the Police Force in Singapore due to its multilingual and multi-ethic nation state.

 

The chief engineer of Singapore’s GT Robot said in an interview: “As a promoter of artificial intelligence, we are very happy to be actively involved in such a social practice. The goal of artificial intelligence is to serve people.”
