Miami, FL – Trailblazing artist-scientist Obdulio Piloto, Ph.D. will hold his first solo exhibition at Artem Scientia’s laboratory and gallery space in Miami from April 11th to May 11th. The exhibition, A Transcendental Pursuit, will feature Piloto’s Euphoria Series as well as objects that trace his distinct journey and personal history in art and science.

The Euphoria Series captures the burst of exhilaration that accompanies artistic creation, scientific discovery and technological breakthroughs. These artworks are the result of more than seven years of perseverance in research and experimentation, which led to Piloto’s development of NuTec diagnostic technology.

This technology forms the basis of Piloto’s artistic method and his own genre of contemporary art, NuTec Molecular Portraits.

The exhibition will offer viewers a rare insight into the creative process of a revolutionary mind, showcasing prototypes, photographs of his early research team, and a final version of a working NuTec Slide.

Piloto has the audacious mind of a creator who knows no limits. He is both a visionary artist creating one-of-a-kind artworks and a groundbreaking scientist developing radical technologies with the potential to improve the lives of millions around the world. For him, the realms of art and science are inextricably linked. While science is the discipline through which Piloto studies and transforms the natural world, art is the preferred language through which he conveys insights from our shared human experience. The noble aim of Piloto’s art is to raise awareness and funds to benefit scientific exploration. Through his creative expressions, Piloto puts to practice his belief that art can be just as powerful and transformative as science.

Obdulio Piloto was raised in a traditional Cuban family in Hialeah, FL. His humble origins defined his aspiration to contribute to the betterment of humanity. From a young age, challenges he encountered served as catalysts for identifying new means of overcoming intractable problems. At the age of 8, he lost his great-grandmother to cancer, an experience that initiated his interest in the sciences and urged his lifelong mission to find solutions for one of the world’s most devastating diseases. As a young student, he entered and won prestigious science competitions, which caught the attention of top universities. He was soon offered a place at Cornell University, later went on to obtain a Ph.D. at John Hopkins University Medical School and pursued post-graduate research at Stanford University. In 2011, Piloto co-founded the biotechnology startup Entopsis and secured their first funding from Peter Thiel’s Breakout Labs, which enabled them to develop the paradigm-shifting technology of NuTec.

Obdulio Piloto’s first solo exhibition invites the viewer to witness and contemplate the power of the human mind to create wonders that have the potential to alter the course of history and enhance the human condition.
