Rancho Cucamonga, CA – March 18, 2019 – Lola Fitzgerald is paving the way for young women in clay shooting. At only 13 years old, she has been named to the 2019 National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) All American Team and 1st in her class for girls.

Lola discovered her love for skeet shooting after watching her dad do it at just six years old. When she was finally old enough to shoot on her own, she began the sport right away. She has since been competing competitively across the state of California and the entire U.S.

Coached by Chris Baker in Southern California in her hometown of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Lola credits her accomplishments to the hard work of her coach and his dedication to teaching her the sport.

She has won many national and state titles since she has begun shooting competitively. In 2018, she was recognized by the NSSA California State Championship as the winner of the state’s junior title. Lola has practice alongside some of the greatest skeet shooters in the world like six-time Olympic medal winner Kim Rhode.

In 2018, Fitzgerald has won several awards and championship titles including:

  • .410 GA lady World Champion
  • DBLS Sub Junior Lady World Champion
  • 28 GA Sub-Junior Lady RU
  • 20 GA Sub-Junior Lady Third

Lola hopes that she will inspire other women to try their hand at skeet shooting and has been featured on KTLA talking about her passion for the sport.

As a young teen in skeet shooting, Lola has to travel outside of the state of California to compete competitively due to the lack of skeet shooting competitions for young girls. This is something that the Fitzgerald family hopes will evolve over the next several years. Lola stated, “We are hoping to see this sport become more popular with young girls and women. It is an empowering sport that is popular all over the U.S. and we hope that girls everywhere will get the chance to learn and love this sport as much as I do.”

Over the next several years, Lola hopes to continue practicing and perfecting her shot for clay shooting. She plans to continue to travel, competing all over the U.S. while encouraging other young women to try out the sport as well. The young clay shooter has an extremely bright future ahead of her. One day, Lola hopes to support her country in the fight for the gold medals at the skeet shooting competitions in the Olympic games.
