New fundraising campaign aims to help children with learning disabilities using specially designed books

Clary Sage is a book, specially designed for the children with, dyslexia, ADD, autism and other learning disabilities. The book is first introduced on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo with a flexible goal of $500. The campaign is created by Jennifer, a teacher herself who observed the difficulties faced by the children with learning disabilities. With this fundraiser, she wants to help the children struggling with learning disabilities while also creating more awareness about it.

The special children often suffer from self-esteem issues and lack of confidence due to their condition. Jennifer believes that it becomes important for the teacher, parents, and friends to reinforce positive behavior in the child. This can be done by giving them a feeling accomplishment by giving them attainable goals that they can feel proud of achieving. This fact led to the idea of developing Clary Sage book, a beautifully illustrated children’s book about a fairy named Clary Sage. This fairy helps the teacher, Mrs. Pincushion, watch for all the positive things students do throughout the day, which could be an act of kindness, listening quietly or behaving well in the class. The fairy also leaves treats on student desks for clean work areas too.

It is a story suitable for all children but those with learning disabilities can benefit the most from it. Moreover, the book includes a paper doll fairy each of Clary Sage and Foxglove, which the kids can cut out and play with. This book can be used for a group of children to give them a positive experience. The teacher can read the story in the class and introduce their very own fairy, which can be moved around the class each day.  The book also comes with a sticker chart that the teacher can give to the students as rewards. In addition, the users can check out the directions included in the book to implement the behavior system properly with the children.

Apart from personal use and classrooms, the Clary Sage book can be used in Sunday school programs, day care facilities, summer camps, extra-curricular classes and wherever there is a need for positive behavior reinforcement in children.

The project owner’s two out of three children suffer from autism so she has seen the struggle of such children closely. With this campaign, she hopes to provide a little bit of relief and positivity to the children with learning disabilities. More information about the campaign and rewards for the backers can be seen on Indiegogo.com.
