Award winning start-ups Senior Care Connect, 2018 winner of the $25,000 Aird & Berlis Market Entry Award, Pamper Me Network the 2017 Winner of the $30,000 York Entrepreneurial Development Institute (YEDI) @ Schulich School of Business Entrepreneurial Award as well as the LaunchYU AccelerateUp Award and VestaChat the 2018 winner of the $5,000 Starter Company Plus Grant have joined forces to rollout build.Collaborate (www.buildcollaborate.com) the world’s first global alumni network for graduates of top Startup Incubation Program, Accelerator Programs and Startup Pitch Competitions.
Having won $68,000 between them, Senior Care Connect, the Pamper Me Network and VestaChat are definitely teachable entrepreneurs. They have successfully negotiated the startup funding process and taught each other how to win.
“We have benefited from the process and the best way to give back to the startup community that put us on the right path to success is to create a global alumni network that supports startups like us,” says Matrix Thompson, Founder, Pamper Me Network.
Thompson adds, “My friends at Vesta Chat introduced me to Innovation York’s LaunchYU program. We in turn introduced Senior Care Connect to LaunchYU and together we each developed winning formulas that allowed us to achieve top ranking in each of the programs we participated in. This is what true collaboration is all about—and we want to share our experience with our peers.”
“We learned in the Launch YU Accelerate Up program about the fundamentals of building a business, and were able to gain connections within the start-up eco-system. From this I learned very quickly how important it is to continue to build a network, explore collaborations, and to be a part of a community who help each other grow,” says Kristal Lewis, Founder, Senior Care Connect.
Programs like LaunchYU, YEDI and the Starter Company Plus Grant are key to the success of the startup community inside international markets. Unfortunately, they have limited resources to accelerate the growth of startups once they graduate.
“We aim to change the dynamics by making the transition more fluid,” says Taiwo McGregor, Founder, VestaChat.
This is achieved by offering graduates, their clients and suppliers access to tools and resources designed specifically to help them to scale up.
