Dehesa School Holds Daily All School Morning Meetings to Improve Unity and Educational Experience for Students

February 20 19:48 2019

At Dehesa School in El Cajon, California, morning meetings aren’t just for administrators. Every morning the entire school participates in an All School Morning Meeting. These meetings are a great way to start the school day for everyone and help create unity within the schools as everyone has the same information and morning “pep talk” each day.

No Excuses Monday kicks of every week by highlighting the goals of Dehesa School as a No Excuses University campus. This Morning Meeting goes over the rules and behavior expectations present at Dehesa School to give everyone at the school a common baseline to start their week with. Next is Think About it Tuesday, where a monthly Character Counts trait is presented and overviewed. The Dehesa School Character Counts traits are responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, citizenship, and trustworthiness. Tips are also given on stopping and preventing bullying in any form at school.

Midweek, Dehesa sees Where Are You Going Wednesday in its Morning Meeting. This is a College Day where students think about their future and the No Excuses University belief that higher education is possible for every child is presented. Talk About it Thursday is a day where the school can ensure everyone is fully informed on any school announcements for upcoming events, activities, and opportunities at Dehesa School.

Fri-yay Friday is a a way for Dehesa School students to close out the week with spirit day and the Fri-yay Morning Meeting is all about Dehesa pride. On this day students are encouraged to wear Dehesa spiritwear and participate in cheers/chants. These meetings are a great way to usher students into their futures as they prepare for staff meetings or company conferences that are inevitable to the careers they will one day enter. Each All School Morning Meeting is just one way Dehesa School is constantly striving to enhance and improve each student’s experience academically and socially.
