Cambodian government partners with NGO HWPL to establish peace in the country

WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Lee from a peace NGO Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) is set to visit Cambodia to advocate peace with the Great Supreme Patriarch of Kingdom of Cambodia, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, and public media.

“The 2019 Grand Opening Ceremony of HWPL Department of Peace Education in the Kingdom of Cambodia”, hosted by the Ministry of Education of Cambodia, will be held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh on February 21. There is an expected 1,000 plus attendees, including the Minister of Education of Cambodia, officials in government and national education, along with students taking part.

The Ministry of Education of Cambodia has partnered with international peace NGO, HWPL, since the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) last year to introduce nationwide peace education and develop related policies and programs. H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, the Minister of Education says, “From this launching ceremony, we step forward to the implementation level to integrate ideas of peace education into the curriculums in Cambodian schools”.

The Ministry of Justice and Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) of Cambodia are also taking part in building a substantive peaceful society in Cambodia. There is a scheduled peace forum, “Government and Civic Groups for the UN Adoption of the DPCW” to be held. The Ministry of Justice, government officials and civic groups will seek for ways to develop principles of peace into a binding international order based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The DPCW addresses principles of conflict resolution and international cooperation for peace building such as prohibition of use of force, peaceful dispute settlement, and spreading a culture of peace, within 10 articles and 38 clauses.

Sang-dae Lee, the Chief Branch Manager in Jeonbuk branch states, “This series of peace events strengthens cooperative partnership between the government of Cambodia and HWPL, international network for development through education, and overall facilitation of Cambodia-Korean friendship.

On February 21 and 22, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL as a peace activist will appeal to Cambodia by highlighting that all people become messengers of peace to achieve a world of peace.”

HWPL and the Great Supreme Patriarch of Kingdom of Cambodia have had international exchanges including Religious Youth Peace Camp in Cambodia, 2017. Since 2016, His Holiness Tep Vong, the Great Supreme Patriarch of Kingdom of Cambodia, visited the HWPL Peace Summit in South Korea to deliver messages of peace to the globe.
