This summer, my sisters Laura and Ellie will be taking part in the Peak District Non-stop 100km challenge to raise money for Nystagmus Network. During this fantastic event, 3,000 brave participants will run, jog, walk (or even crawl) 100km over the course of a weekend. The event will take place on 13/14th July 2019. The route consists of a long figure of 8 loop, in Bakewell in the Peak District, which features some pretty spectacular views.
Stunning views might offer some encouragement to the girls on their way around the course – something they are certainly going to need plenty of! Travelling such a long distance on foot is not something that will be easily achieved, even when spurred by the natural beauty that the Peak District has to offer. In preparation of what is to come, Laura and Ellie are putting their all into this event by training for it well in advance.
Of course, they are doing all of this for a very admirable reason and it is this that motivates them the most. Their goal is to raise £1,500 for Nystagmus Network. The fundraiser is still in the early stages, but I know that each and every donation given so far has spurred the girls on even more.
Why Nystagmus Network?
As you will read on the Just Giving page, Nystagmus is something that has recently impacted our family. For those that have not come across it before, Nystagmus is a condition which causes involuntary rapid eye movements which impair vision, by impacting focus and depth perception. Currently there is no cure for this very distressing condition, which is something we want to help change.
Nystagmus Network are an amazing charity who are dedicated to providing support and raising awareness about the condition. As well as this, in the UK they lead the way in funding research to help find new treatments that could improve the lives of Nystagmus sufferers. Relatively speaking, little is known about the condition so the work they do into funding research is invaluable.

As mentioned above, we are asking friends and colleagues to donate to this wonderful cause. But at Colson Skips, the fundraising work does not stop there! Some of our extremely generous business friends and associates have kindly offered prizes that we can use for a raffle. And of course, all the money raised from our raffle will be going to Laura and Ellie’s Nystagmus fundraiser!
