Darbar’s Chicken & Ribs, of New York, have provided lunch to some 200 TSA workers as the continue US Government partial shutdown leaves them unpaid.

With the continued United States Government partial shutdown still making headline news, a chicken and ribs restaurant in New York called Darbar’s Chicken & Ribs has been looking out for those government employees who are “caught in the crossfire”, by providing some 200 of them with lunches.

Darbar’s Chicken & Ribs was founded back in 1997 by Shabhaz “Darbar” Ganny, who wanted to create the go-to spot for fresh quality fried chicken in New York. Darbar is also the head chef of his restaurant, specialising in halal chicken and other dishes.

While most of the country has been focused on the continued wrangling between the US President and the Democrats, for thousands of federal employees this has meant total insecurity regarding their pay.

Witnessing what he saw to be hardworking, patriotic TSA agents go without pay, Darbar set to work doing what he could to alleviate their troubles.

Accordingly, Darbar’s Chicken & Ribs supplied almost a hundred TSA employees at American Airlines Terminal 8 with full lunches on January 16th – 25 days into the shutdown.

A day later, on January 17th, day 26 of the shutdown, Darbar’s supplied another hundred or so TSA employees at JetBlue Terminal 5 with full lunches as well. Darbar’s efforts are ongoing to assist these employees weather the storm. They intend to continue supplying lunches and dinners at JFK terminals for as long as the government shutdown prevails.
