About Dr. Lauren W. Powell

Lauren W. Powell, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician and culinary medicine specialist. She received a bachelor’s in chemistry and a minor in business from the University of Detroit Mercy. She later obtained her MD degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine and her family medicine residency at Halifax Health, where she was elected chief resident. During her residency, she presented several national research projects.

She furthered her training in culinary medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine to properly teach her patients about the role of food and health. Dr. Powell also served as a regular guest physician contributor on a radio show entitled Healthy Living with the mission of getting health-related information to minorities with limited access to the healthcare system. Her objective is empowering African Americans to end generational patterns of adverse health outcomes.
