Don Winn Updates His Popular ‘Sir Kaye The Boy Knight’ Series Books With New Look

January 18 11:18 2019

Award-winning children’s author Don Winn has re-released his popular Sir Kaye the Boy Knight series of books with a new look. All four books (The Knighting of Sir Kaye, The Lost Castle Treasure, Legend of the Forest Beast and The Eldridge Conspiracy) now boast fresh, exciting covers. The stories tell the adventures of Kaye, a twelve-year-old knight in the fictional Medieval land of Knox, as he strives to serve his queen, protect the kingdom, and become the “perfect” knight, just like his famous but absent father, while encountering various bullies and villains and foiling dangerous plots against the queen.

Originally written for middle-grade readers between the ages of 8-12, this kids’ adventure series has recently shifted in popularity to include a broader spectrum of readers. Adults—who may not necessarily have children—are enjoying these action-packed publications too.

The updated design looks neutral in appearance, suggesting that the books may not primarily appeal to children alone. In addition, it creates a more formal image, and the logo stands out more clearly.

Don recently explained on his blog that since writing his first book in 2012, the appeal of his stories has grown to span across all age groups.

The Sir Kaye books are not short of acclaim and praise either. Each of the four books has received multiple awards individually, plus collectively winning the 2017 Royal Dragonfly award for Best Children’s Series.

Recent feedback from adult readers describes how much they enjoyed reading about Kaye’s exciting journeys and adventures that relate to their own memories of childhood. With the often-stressful pace of modern-day life, this immersive series could also take you away from everyday reality. Perhaps more importantly, encouraging children to read these books would be a great  activity to help them learn to balance their ever-growing use of mass technology and social media.

All four books are packed with adventure, heroes, knights, excitement and humor, with no end of fun. Don describes these books as intended for grades 3 and upwards, however, it seems that even younger, less-confident readers are eager to start the series too. “I wrote these books to appeal to struggling and reluctant readers,” Don says. “I am dyslexic, and I remember how difficult it was for me to read as a child. So I tried to write the kind of books that I wished for as a kid and I’m thrilled whenever young readers tell me that they loved one of my books and finished it even though reading is hard for them.”

The books are available from all major digital retailers including Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, Barnes and Noble.com, and Audible.com. Softcover, hardcover, and audiobook formats can be purchased too.
