Over the past 30 years, Strain has been on dive adventures around the world, and he even invented a special harness for his friend Patti, who has quadriplegia since the age of 10. Since then, the two have gone on their own dive excursions around the world.
Now, Strain aims to bring some of these stories to readers everywhere with the new children’s book ‘Scuba Jim and the Mermaid.’ In this story, the character Scuba Jim goes on exciting adventures, and readers get to experience the story along with beautiful illustrations.
To bring his book to audiences everywhere, Strain has launched a Kickstarter campaign with a mission of raising just over $40,000 to produce and distribute the book.
Strain is excited to share adventures from around the world while teaching about the importance of traveling, learning about new cultures, and exploring the ocean. This unique adaptation is designed to inspire kids to want to learn more about the ocean and the world around them.
Backers will receive signed limited editions of the book in June 2019 if funding is met, and according to Strain, a second Scuba Jim book is planned. In the next book, Strain will share some of his adventures with Patti.
About ‘Scuba Jim and the Mermaid,’ Strain said, “The book is written. I strictly need the money to publish now and hire a person who knows how to do this.”
