NHEO Institute Announces Building A Safer Future Campaign Impacting One Million; 2018 Safety Award Winners

December 18 01:02 2018

National Hispanic Entrepreneurs’ Organization (NHEO) Institute, the U.S. non-profit focused on the advancement and growth of various causes in the construction and engineering industry, is proud to announce today that its Building a Safe Future Campaign has recently surpassed its original goal of impacting more than one million people. As a result of NHEO Institute’s efforts, which kicked off in January of 2018, the organization has recruited more than 350 companies and enrolled more than 75 volunteers. NHEO partnered for the Building a Safe Future Campaign with many sponsors, such as Procore Technologies and Univision, while some of the Campaign’s high profile supporters and pledgers include former US Secretary of Transportation Hon. Rodney Slater, former US Secretary of Transportation Hon. Mary E. Peters, and Speaker of the House of Representatives in the state of Colorado Crisanta Duran among others.

“We are very proud of this campaign,” said Max Cruz-Gallardo, NHEO Institute Board member “It’s amazing to see how we can all agree and commit to the importance of health and safety and how many workers and families we can impact by working together”.

In the framework of the Building a Safe Future Campaign, thousands of construction workers and their families received bilingual safety and health training and educational resources. The Campaign was also introduced in several schools, universities, and industry conferences across the country, where it was included in presentations that helped drive awareness about the issues at hand.

NHEO Institute further shared today that Bechtel and Chavez Trim are the recipients of the NHEO Safety Award 2018 for their commitment to safety excellence in the industry. Bechtel, who was instrumental in leading the campaign, will continue expanding their campaign participation to other projects in 2019. “The campaign will extend throughout 2019, aiming to maintain its original goal of recognizing and supporting the craft professionals and their families as they innovate to build a stronger safety culture,” said Maria Silva, NHEO Institute media representative.
