Early this week, Tetyana Boyechko has announced the official release of “The Orange Moon,” a collection of contemporary poetry about overcoming psychological and emotional impact and uncovering of self-identity to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. Tetyana is an interdisciplinary artist who shares her experiences with trauma, romance, femininity, and self-love through poetry and art.

Treating the epidemic of anxiety and depression that stems from a variety of traumatic stressors has become a national mission. According to the American College Health Association’s 2015 study, one in every six college students has been diagnosed or treated for anxiety and that number continues to rise dramatically. And “in the past 15 years, depression has doubled and suicide tripled,” said Jerald Kay, M.D., Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the Wright State University School of Medicine. We are also learning how complex trauma can perpetuate into critical life choices, adulthood mental illness, and substance abuse, overwhelming the entire public health system.

Tetyana opens up about her observations and healing mechanisms with creative bite-sized poetry in hopes of benefiting anyone who has experienced challenging obstacles including ones thatoriginated from family, societal or romantic relationships.

“I realized over the process of healing that there is a lot of talent lurking underneath the anxiety and that a healthy and stable support system is necessary in order to surpass mental blockage and self-consciousness to be able toexpress those talents. “The Orange Moon” was born because of the steps I took to build that encouraging support system.”

Creating the book inspired Tetyana’s dream of establishing a peer to peer co-working space that embraces expression through arts, writing, and performing.

“We can not only learn a lot from each other but also come to a mutual understanding that we resonate on many levels and are not alone in our journeys,” she said.
