Anders Eklof Releases a Historically Accurate Romantic Drama Book

November 23 04:45 2018

Norrtalje, Sweden – November 22, 2018 – Author Anders Eklof proudly announces the launch of his book, All Love Prohibited. The book provides a uniquely personal perspective on the American South of the early 1960s. It was published on October 16, 2018, in paperback format and it’s now available on Amazon.

All Love Prohibited accurately describes the dramatic political events of 1961 and 1962 and uses them as a framework for a very passionate love story. It refers to the Freedom Bus Rides, the 1962 campaign for governor of Alabama, the Ole Miss riots of 1962 and the perspective of blacks on the increasing racial tensions caused by the civil rights movement.

The ensuing love story is described with insights gained from the author’s unusual life experiences. He has lived for decades with one (professional) foot in a high-tech world populated mainly by whites and Asians, and one (private) foot in the black American world, centered on his marriage and his circle of black friends. The story is not a true memoir but is informed by traumatic personal experiences.

The story is told from the perspective of a foreigner whose mores and values clash sharply with the ambient culture of segregation, racist fear and hatred, religious bigotry, and sexual prudishness. The main character is created through personal experience and with the help of favorite stories and years of study of history and psychology.” – Anders Eklof, author.

Anders’s book was influenced by Alexandre Dumas, Richard Wright, Irving Stone, Erik Foner, Eugene Genovese, Nils Ferlin (Swedish poet).

The book is targeted at well-educated individuals who enjoy reading a good romantic drama book and individuals interested in social issues, particularly race relations and the history of the 1960s.

Author Anders Eklof

Anders Eklof was born and raised in Sweden. He studied electronics and communications technology and also developed an interest in political and social issues. In 1961 the Swedish government sent Anders to a military base in Alabama to learn how to operate and maintain an anti-aircraft missile system bought by Sweden. An incident in a cafeteria gave him his first personal observation of Southern white disrespect for black people. The incident created a lifelong feeling of loyalty to America’s black population. His first marriage was to an African-American woman, with whom he has two children. His second marriage is to an African woman with whom he also has two children. He has lived his professional life among people of mostly European and Asian ancestry, but his private life, mainly in the African-American community, has given him a view from both sides of American racial prejudices and tensions.
