ADDISON, TX – November 1, 2018 – The National Antique Oldsmobile Club will be holding their Annual National Meet at the Crowne Plaza in Addison, Texas from June 5 – 8, 2019. The North Texas Oldsmobile Club will hold its annual Zone Show at the same time and location. Spectators will have a chance to view up to 125 Oldsmobile Cars including such famous classics as the 1940s Dynamic, 1950s Eighty-Eight, 1960s Toronado, and 1970s Cutlass.

The last Oldsmobile rolled off the line in April 2004 and since that time it has been up to car clubs to keep the spirit of Oldsmobile alive in the public eye. For those who are not familiar, The Oldsmobile Company is directly responsible for many features we see in the automobile industry today. Ransom Eli Olds started the Olds Motor Vehicle Company in 1897 and was the first to employ volume mass-production techniques. Henry Ford built upon this by developing the moving assembly line.

Additional Oldsmobile “firsts” include the following: speedometer offered on a production car (1901); nickel-plating used in the auto industry (1907); fully automatic transmission introduced (1939); electric grid rear window defogger, anti-lock brakes, windshield integrated antennas, and high-mount brake lights offered on the Toronado (1969-71); air-bag option offered on a production vehicle (1974); heads up display deployed (1988); and Guidestar on-board navigation system offered on a production car (1995).
